Gabby Lynn started this petition to Hoke county highschool and

I’ve heard hundreds of stories from the young girls that go to this school, each and every story about being sexualized, inappropriately touched, harassed, and in the end blamed.
These same young women tried to stand up for themselves and in the end were suspended for it. The people who did it to them? They suffered no serious consequences. The students at the school are sick and tired of nothing being done. A young girl at home county high school was participating in a silent protest against the dress code and treatment of these young women on August 26th, 2021. As a result she was sent to in school suspension. While she was there, in a classroom of 15 kids or less, some young men asked her to sit with them, and asked for her social media. Being friendly she sat with them and shared it with them. They had been talking with them very friendly and a few of the boys began to tease in what a young boy may see as a flirty way, grabbing at her phone and backpack. The young boys then continued to ask if she would be interested in being involved with any of them. The girl is a junior and is age 17, she said no, as all the boys were young freshman. They seemed a little upset but continued to talk with and tease her. Two of these boys began to push down on her head and touch on her back. She asked them to stop, and one of them sat at her side, and began touching this young girls thighs. He then made unprovoked comments about her thighs and female body parts. The young girl said loudly in the direction of the teacher “They’re touching me inappropriately” the teacher didn’t respond and she repeated herself. After the teacher didn’t respond the second time, still sitting at his desk on his computer. The student walked out and began to leave campus towards her home. On the way out administrators told her to stop and when she cried telling them she wanted to go home, they told her she was over reacting. The administrators and staff that were telling her to stop and return to class then told the girl, maybe she shouldn’t have been wearing clothes like that. After she persisted and left campus, the staff sent the on campus police officer to detain her. The young boys suffered no consequences.

We, the students of Hoke County Highschool, want want a change. Young women shouldn’t be told that it’s their fault a boy sexually assaulted and harassed her because of what she was wearing. We want our school to change the dress code, and stop targeting young female students who wear spaghetti straps and shorts that are just an inch shorter than their finger tips. We want our school to reprimand the young boys who think it’s okay to touch and make comments on a young women’s body. Please sign and help us show our school that we are serious and want some real change!
