The former Deaf Anglers Clubhouse is up for Demolition. Situated on Crown Land at the southern end of Maddox Rd, Hobsons Bay Shire Council are the Committee of Management. This historic building circa 1930s is unique in its position and is a sought after location for film and TV productions like Shantaram. An independent building inspection has been done which was favourable. No formal community consultation has been entered into. Various groups such as Rotary have made proposals including to maintain the building at their own expense. An interim heritage overlay to review the building has been requested by many and ignored by Hobsons Bay Shire Council. The Former Clubhouse has great potential for community engagement should be utilised for Community benefit.
