Enough unnecessary fireworks from the Melbourne Aces at Altona Baseball Stadium

Like many local residents I am fed up with the frequency of fireworks displays held by the Melbourne Aces baseball club.
My dog like so many others got scared by these fireworks last week and was missing for the weekend, while looking for her I met other people with the same concerns. Our local vet clinic advised that they had received the most lost dog notifications ever after the last show and the staff at the Lost Dogs Home echoed similar sentiments. While we were there looking for our dog two people from the Hobson's Bay Council called in looking for their own.
It only takes a cursory look at the local lost pet pages to see that we aren't the only ones who dread Friday nights.
I asked around and heard from families with young children and elderly people in the area also raised concerns about the fireworks and the impact they have on their lives, including a story of an elderly woman with dementia who does not understand what the commotion is and is terrified when the displays go off.
Luckily our dog came home, many others are not so lucky. Surely this is a drain on the resources, time and emotion of rangers, shelter workers and owners alike for the sake of 15 minutes of fireworks?
All our community ask is that these fireworks are saved for special occasions and big games and the frequency much reduced.
