Real SlimShady started this petition to HMD Global and

Nokia manufacturer HMD Global is one of the biggest feature phone manufacturers in the world, reimagining old devices for the modern era and creating some of the best devices on the market. But while their lineup is very good, there is one thing missing from both it and the rest of the feature phone market... a QWERTY keyboard.

With over 560 billion text messages sent a month, texting has long since surpassed the traditional phone call in long distance communication. However, the feature phone market is dominated by the reliable yet agonizingly slow T9 keyboard. You know, those keyboards where you had to hit 7 four times just to type out the letter S? In a world where so many texts are sent, it can be an annoyance for T9 users to do basic tasks such as carry out a longer conversation or talk in a group chat with such a slow method of communication. The QWERTY keyboard is the perfect solution, as it was over 20 years ago when devices such as the BlackBerry and SideKick burst onto the scene. And naturally Nokia had their own QWERTY offerings as well, with the Nokia E Series rivaling the other keyboard phones of the era. Well, it's time for this era to revolutionize the cellphone industry once again, this time in the feature phone market.

A reimagining of the Nokia E6, E72, or E63 powered by KaiOS would be an industry leading feature phone design. KaiOS is perfect for such a device as well, with the India exclusive Jio Phone 2 standing as the sole example of a 4G feature phone running the operating system. HMD Global has what it takes to bring this idea to the rest of the world, and with the high quality of the Nokia brand to boot.

This petition isn't trying to force anything, but rather show HMD Global that consumers want a simple QWERTY phone again. The market exists for people that want to be able to send dozens of texts, but don't have a need for a full fledged smartphone running iOS or Android. We want such a device.
