This petition is to bring to your attention an increasingly dangerous phenomenon culturally referred to as ‘revenge porn’.

‘Revenge Porn’ Is a dangerous online assault, seriously affecting the lives of women and girls in the UK. Websites such as myex.com operate with the sole intent to cause emotional distress or humiliation.

Jilted ex-lovers submit naked photographs without the consent of the victim along with a libellous story and often contact details such as links to social network pages and telephone numbers. The pictures are published on the website where dialogue builds about the subjects sexual history and habits as well as a rating on her physical attributes.

This is immensely damaging to the mental health of young women and girls. It can compromise people’s careers, affects their new relationships and most dangerously insights hatred and harassment of the victim.

Currently there is no law protecting people from this violation.

Please sign this petition to politely urge our government to introduce a law which will stop the emotional torment and humiliation of women and girls and make it illegal to publish, distribute, email, hyperlink or make available for download, nude images of a person without her or his consent.
