Our business teacher and Girls Build advisor, Mr. Gervais, recently informed us that he would be losing his job. Because of the change in schedule, a teacher had to be removed. Gervais’ teacher contract isn’t under HLPUSD, but a separate company, therefore they are getting rid of him. Gervais has helped create the positive, caring environment that Girls Build is, and we need him to stay as a teacher and advisor. Girls Build is everything to the cabinet and myself, and he was the only teacher willing to be our advisor. The students love him, and he genuinely cares about the well being of the students. We want the district and school board to hire him as an HLPUSD employee so that he can stay.
