S.O.S. - Save Our Signal Hill Neighbourhood

We are the Signal Hill Neighbourhood Association. We care about this historic community.

Our neighbourhood is a place that many of you have come to love and embrace for the character of the homes, the hike to Signal Hill and out the Battery - the place to come celebrate Canada Day.  The oldest house in Newfoundland still stands tall at the corner of Powers Court. The Sisters of Mercy Convent is still home to an active congregation of sisters.

We want to save our neighbourhood from a proposed zoning change that will see the character of this neighbourhood forever altered.

Please sign our petition - asking our St. John's City Councillors to reject a proposed zoning change in a residential neighbourhood to allow for the development of a large hotel complex right on Signal Hill Road.

This type of zoning change conflicts with the existing zoning in the Municipal Plan and the Local Area Plan for Planning Area 2 and the objectives in Envision St. John’s Draft Municipal Plan.

Let's show our St. John's City Council that we care about this neighbourhood (and all our neighbourhoods).  We urge the City of St. John’s to respect its own Municipal Plan and the wishes of this longstanding neighbourhood and reject the proposed application from Premier Executive Suites Atlantic to rezone land at 22 St. Joseph's lane to build a large complex that fronts on Signal Hill Road.

Help us help our Councillors make the right decision.  Signal Hill belongs to us all - let's work together to Save Our Signal Hill.  Add your name to our petition.
