Hit ‘em in the profits

Hit ‘em in the profits
Why this petition matters
The time has come… we need to stand up to the oil giants and bring down the cost of fuel for the consumer! The consumer is being fleeced, while fat cat bosses are raking in profits of disproportionate amounts. We understand that the conflict in Ukraine and various other factors have driven up the price we pay at the forecourts… However, the wholesale cost has fallen for weeks while the price at the pumps hasn’t fallen at all but instead has in most cases actually risen. We could speculate that we are paying the price of the windfall tax the UK government has imposed on these giants, as it seems the pump price has been steadily increasing since this announcement. It is clear profiteering and even the once reliable cheap supermarkets have gotten in on the act too, no longer are they cheaper than the giants, but seem to be selling fuel at the same price as them in most cases.
The cost of fuel does not just affect drivers, it affects us all. For example, we all rely on goods that are transported around using this fuel, and the price they pay for fuel is factored into the products or services we purchase, which is why we are seeing massive increases of cost in our day to day living! The government is not listening and the companies are not listening, so it is up to us to make them listen and hit them where it hurts most… their profit margin!
The beginning of July saw various ‘go slow’ protests on some of the busy roads in the UK which appear to have had no effect at all and in fact actually added to the profits of the giants because of the extra fuel the protesters need to use for it. Again, in the 2000’s we saw refineries being blockaded which just led to massive panic buying of fuel, which again added to the profits of these companies. So, what can we do? Are we totally powerless to these fat cat bosses and massive companies? NO! We can make them listen, and make our voices heard with our feet and refuse to buy their product, which will cause them to have a surplus of fuel, not even entering the stores to buy items, all of which will indeed hit them in the profits!
The proposal? Boycott the companies one by one for a period of a few days / a week at time. Starting with the biggest but then randomly and coordinated, even boycotting supermarket forecourts since they too want to profiteer during this cost of living crisis! This might mean that we pay a few pence more at the pump as we find other suppliers during the protest, but in the long run it will be worth it when prices come down again because we chose to stand up to these giants! However, this will not work unless we are ALL on the same page and follow the protest collectively. Now is the time to stand up and be counted, now is the time to say no more!
The first company to boycot will be BP starting from Friday the 15th July 2022. Please refrain from filling up fuel or even entering the stores of this company. It might inconvenience you to do this, but in the long run we should see the fruits of our suffering.
Please share this with everyone you know, and keep your eye on this account for the next announced company to boycott.
Stay safe everyone, and may you have more money in your pocket once we are done!
