Stoke Golding Friends of the Community started this petition to Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council

You don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone - don’t let that happen to our lovely village! Developers and landowners are putting pounds before people and it needs to stop. We are at risk of losing 13 fields to 320+ houses and we know we're not the only UK village under threat.

Our primary school is full, we only have one small village shop, no Post Office, an oversubscribed doctor’s surgery, one recreation field, a lack of employment opportunities, a limited bus service, small village roads with increasing parking problems and with a proposed 42% increase in cars in only 10 years, think of all that pollution!

This overdevelopment leads to a loss of green spaces, a risk of flooding and a stress on amenities forcing locals to have their services compromised. We understand there will always be a need for housing but these new proposals smack of money-hungry developers with no care for the environment, the community and the local heritage.

At present, Stoke Golding (the birthplace of the Tudor dynasty) is falling victim to all of the above with four separate development proposals in discussion, but none of the impact and cumulative consequences being considered.

We are calling for a more holistic approach to such intrusive plans; the support of our local council and MPs, and an understanding from other small villages and residents who are under threat from similar schemes. Proposals such as these need to be looked at from a wider perspective before more communities are thrown into turmoil and having to deal with the upheaval and upset these developments cause.

Please support us in our plea and help Stoke Golding keep it’s authenticity and community spirit alive. Sign our petition and most importantly spread the word. There is also an objection portal on the Hinckley and Bosworth Council website that's open until 15th September - search for 20/00779/OUT and help us take this to the next level! Thank you!
