Decision Maker Response
Prof M.V. Rajeev Gowda’s response
Apr 5, 2019 — Dear Citizens,
I want to start by thanking you for sending in your petitions on Change.org for the process of preparing the Indian National Congress Party’s election manifesto. Bidisha Saikla and her 41000 supporters are asking us for sanitary napkins vending machines to be installed in government schools in her town. Her idea was presented to the Manifesto Committee as well as party leadership and given careful consideration.
Historically, Congress has been at the forefront of the struggle for women’s rights, equality and empowerment.
Under the leadership of Shri Rahul Gandhi, the Indian National Congress has considered the issue of toilets and menstrual hygiene very seriously. The Congress party will ensure that an adequate number of safe and hygienic public toilets for women will be provided in towns and cities. Specifically, we have pledged that sanitary napkin vending machines will be installed in public spaces, schools and colleges.
