As the year has wrapped up for the 2020 seniors with the worldwide impact of Corona Virus, original graduation dates were pushed back; only for seniors to find out today that the designated in person graduation was cancelled. Seniors have worked extremely hard to get the opportunity to walk across the stage. A tweet put out today (6-30-20) by @HillsboroughSchools stated " Our district will hold graduations for the Class of 2020 virtually, following a sharp spike in COVID-19 cases in our community. District leaders have made a decision that we believe is in the best interest of our graduates and their families." I most certainly care about the well being of others & have put our health into consideration when coming up with this plan & petition. I am a Lennard High School Graduate who was very involved with my district, county and school. And I recommend a split alphabetically in person graduation. Although it will not be the traditional graduation where our class is together as one, we will have the chance to walk across the stage & celebrate the accomplishments we've made with someone special. Signing this petition gives the Hillsborough County class of 2020 a chance to celebrate a moment that we have all desired and worked towards.
