Dress codes are legal so long as they don't treat gender identity differently, but the majority of the schools that use these dress codes punish girls more often than boys. Girls dress code consists of No distracting pants rips, No higher than finger tip shorts, No strapless tops, No spaghetti straps, No see through clothing No low cut necklines, No bare midriffs, and No backless tops; yet the guys essentially consist of one thing “no sagging” the absolute bare minimum don’t show your underwear. We need a change OUR BODY OUR CHOICE! Why should we be told to cover up rather than acknowledging the fact that us women aren’t the problem our dress code justification promotes rape culture and putting blame on the wearer, is it so hard to look the other way? WE ARENT DISTRACTIONS, but pulling us out of class to tell us to change or go home is disrupting our learning not our shoulders or our thighs or our midriffs, us kids in highschool who are being oppressed by these rules are ages 13-18 if a teacher or staff or student finds anything that makes them feel as if we are being sexual and showing off too much they are the problem. If a male teacher sees a girls shoulder or thighs and is offended he shouldn’t be a teacher point blank period.
