High school graduation is a right of passage that celebrates the end of one chapter and the beginning of a new chapter. This petition aims to persuade the administration of Steinbrenner High School and the Hillsborough County Public School Board to allow the senior class of Steinbrenner High to have a graduation ceremony on campus. The class of 2020 has missed out on all of the traditional activities associated with their senior year of high school. As of June 30, 2020, the Hillsborough County Public School Board decided to cancel in-person graduation ceremonies, thus throwing another devastating blow to the already downtrodden class of 2020. We propose that the graduation ceremony be held on the football field, which would adhere to CDC recommended social distancing guidelines. The ceremony would mean a great deal to the seniors and their families who have awaited this momentous occasion for 12 years.
