The student body would like to address an issue that has been becoming more and more prominent and can no longer be overlooked. The female students have been subjected to unfair treatment regarding the dress code guidelines and their enforcement by administration.
The female students at our school are way too often treated as sexual objects who cannot wear certain items of clothing because “it’s a distraction” this is an unequal application of the Dress Code of conduct. By allowing young men to wear tank tops and hang their pants low, despite it being against the code of conduct, -“All pants and shorts shall be secured at the waist. Boys’ shirts shall have sleeves.”, the code of conduct is unfairly applied to the majority of young women while the male student body’s dress code goes almost completely unnoticed in comparison. We ask that the dress code be implemented in a fair way for all who attend Jefferson High School.
