Improve the safety of bridges over the M53 to reduce the risk of further suicide attempts

There have been a high number of suicides and suicide attempts from M53 bridges in recent years, which impact not only on the person attempting suicide and their loved ones, but also on those using the motorway, and those in the vicinity who witness these incidents. This puts the safety of a high number of people at risk. Previous petitions have attempted to request increased safety for these bridges, including anti climb fences, and have not been successful. We believe that these incidents are becoming more and more frequent, and both Highways England and Wirral Council need to address these safety issues for the health and safety of all residents.
