Why this petition matters

Started by Stephanie Leech

Radcliffe-on-Trent, Nottingham is desperately trying to voice concerns regarding Highways England's proposed changes to A52 Bingham Road/Harlequin Junction.

The proposal is detailed in the link below (Pages 9 & 10)

A52 Bingham Road Junction Proposal

The written objections to Highways England have not been considered as promised. Many residents have received "copy and paste" replies alongside many concerns disregarded or simply ignored.

Highways England designed this proposal based on surveys that were carried out in 2016 and November 2019. This data does not consider the 2,250 houses planned along this very same stretch of the A52.

Highways England advise the re-directed traffic from this proposal can be forced down the small residential streets surround this junction.  These residential streets house three schools, local parks, and elderly residents.

If this proposal goes ahead, more and more accidents like the one I saw on the 24th of February 2020 will happen, but at a higher frequency, increased speed, and much graver safety risk.

Schemes such as this are only stop-gaps. The dual carriageway project that was promised many years ago needs to be seriously reconsidered, considering the thousands upon thousands of new homes proposed to be built within close proximity of this junction render the surveys carried out in both 2016 and 2019 wildly inaccurate.

Thank you for taking the time to read the above points and I hope we get your support in keeping our beautiful village a safe place to live.
