Highways England and TfL to open up the northbound slip road from the A3 to the Ace of Spades roundabout (junction of the A243) for all traffic (except HGVs).  TfL to take action at the A3 / Fullers Way North intersection to reduce traffic flowing into residential streets from the A3 and to make it safer in these residential areas for all road users and pedestrians.

The residential streets in Tolworth / Surbiton have become a rat run for traffic coming north off the A3 wanting to get to areas such as Hook and Chessington.  These are residential streets, not thoroughfares.  Local traffic levels have become classed as ‘high traffic’ due to the level of traffic, including both LGV and HGV traffic.  There are safety concerns for the school children, bus users, cyclists and pedestrians who use these residential streets.  There are two high schools and a primary school on these very busy streets.  The junction of the A3 / Fullers Way North is extremely dangerous for all vehicles and in particular HGVs leaving and joining the A3 from these residential streets.  The increased traffic on these residential streets is not aligned with the Mayor’s air quality strategy.  Non-residential traffic needs to be kept to the major roads, not residential streets.
