Bridget Carter started this petition to Highways Agency and

Mill Lane currently has the national speed limit of 60 miles per hour, which is way too fast particularly for vehicles entering Winlaton Mill, a village which is full of adults - some elderly, children and animals.  In the surrounding woods are deer and other wildlife.

Also on Mill Lane there is a children's play park, a car park.  Opposite the car park are paths into the woods. Anybody crossing this road, especially with small children do not feel safe considering the many drivers who take advantage of the downhill slope to drive dangerously fast.  Even with modern brakes, it's not easy to slow down to the required 30mph on entering the village.

This speed limit is far too fast.  Vehicles often tear into the village at way over 60mph, past parked cars and down highly populated residential streets.  A speed limit of 40mph at the fastest and even a 30mph limit,  would ensure the safety of people and animals crossing the road.

As Winlaton now has speed humps and a 20mph limit, people often get impatient and make up for 'lost' time by speeding downhill into the village, which potentially is life-endangering.

Please sign for a slower speed limit and keep our villagers safe.
