Over the last five years there have been several serious crashes, including 7 fatalities, between the Four Sisters junction for East Bergholt and Gun Hill – a distance of less than three miles.
Speeding is one of the main causes of fatal and serious injury collisions. In 2010, 20 people died on Suffolk’s roads and in almost a third of these incidents, speeding was identified as being a contributory factor.
Also this stretch of the A12 has shorter than normal slip roads and an opening in the central reservation for southbound traffic to cross northbound traffic for the B1068 Stoke By Nayland road.
My suggestion would be to reduce the speed limit down to 50mph throughout this stretch of road with the possible introduction of GATSO or SPECS (Average Speed) cameras to reinforce these limits.

Other suggestions would be to close a lane especially around the B1068 Stoke By Nayland road as they have done on the A120 at Little Bromley.
