I have started this petition to have anti climb fences installed on the bridges over the m5.

There seems to be an increase in the amount of poor individuals which have jumped off the bridges in the recent months. For me feels like a start of an epidemic and I feel strongly something needs to be done to prevent this. Not only does it affect the family of the individual which has jumped but it also affects road users, service men and woman who have to arrive on site and the drivers which have witnessed or unfortunately hit the individual.

Mental health is a huge on going issue which everyone is aware off. I currently became even more aware of the short fall for mental health crisis teams when recently with the support of our local fire service and police service I assisted in talking a young individual out of jumping from a 2 story building.

These fences may not be the cure for mental health, but they should prevent more people from jumping off the bridges resulting in traffic backing up and local services having a few less calls to individuals trying to or completed in jumping off or throwing things from the bridges and onto the m5 and would be a step forward in helping this issue
