Parent Council Knockbreck started this petition to HIGHLAND COUNCIL and

We really need your signature and comment to encourage the Highland Council to get the work done on the playground and pitch at Knockbreck. Despite several emails and pleas for help Highland Council and Scottish Water have continued to ignore the severe drainage problems that are causing the playground and pitch to be in the state they are in.

We hope you will all sign, comment and share this petition for others to sign so that Highland Council will reconsider their approach and complete the works required on the playground and pitch. It also concerns Scottish Water who briefly investigated the problem and despite finding raw sewage in the samples they confirmed by email that they never found the source of the sewage in the playground. The teachers and staff do their best to keep the children off the worst affected areas of the playground but as we all know the whole playground is in dire need of work to create a drainage system that works and a playground and pitch that are fit for purpose.

The children haven’t been able to play matches on the pitch, running clubs, football clubs and much more have been cancelled endlessly for the last 12 months. It has been a problem all year round now for years. The playground is sometimes restricted to the very small concrete playground. Its extremely unsafe to have so many primary age children playing in such a restricted area and a total nightmare for the staff and parents with countless accidents and lack of space and inevitably they have to sometimes use the field of mud that is their current playground and pitch.

The active parent council raised money for new goals for the girls football and we are not able to purchase or install them as the pitch is in such a dreadful state. When the children raised the money themselves through hard work and dedication it sends a very poor message that the Council and others responsible refuse to make the playground adequate for them to be installed.

This petition will be delivered to the right people at Highland Council and Scottish Water and we really need your help so that the Council know that we are committed to this cause, to get the playground sorted. The children are also going to write letters to the Council and Scottish Water in the hope that they will be able to communicate with each other and complete the work that needs doing. The work that has been done so far here is a cosmetic token and has not addressed the underlying drainage problems.
Please can you help by signing this. We might stand a chance of getting it fixed and the children and the whole school community will be extremely happy! Thanks for reading.
