Why this petition matters

Started by Avylon B

Across America, funding for high school career classes has been a highly debated topic amongst students, teachers, staff, and lawmakers. High schools should encourage the development of career classes because it gives students new opportunities to engage in real-world skills that can significantly impact their future.

Career classes would benefit all high school students, especially those who choose to integrate directly into the workforce after high school. Some high school students are asked to fundraise or donate to help fund their career classes, which goes against the principle of free education.

Lawmakers need to take action to help fund career classes because the children of today are the future of our world. Students are encouraged to take core classes like English, math, and science, but career pathways are lacking in the majority of high schools in America.

As a high school student, I encourage my fellow peers to take action by advocating for more funding for career classes such as: journalism, culinary, photography, digital animation, preschool, legal careers, medical careers, etc.
