Allow use of electric skateboards on campus

For students of High Point University who are lucky enough to have one, they should be able to use their electric skateboards on campus. Electric skateboards are an efficient and safe way to get around campus. Unlike regular skateboards and longboards these come with extremely quick braking. Often when going downhill it can be dangerous to not have breaking on a normal skateboard, this gets rid of that issue. For students who don’t have a car on campus and need to travel longer distances, this is a much better way to get around rather than walking. When talking with a High Point University police officer about the issue he told me that the battery on the board is the problem. If the TSA allows them to be checked luggage on airplanes, then there is no reason the battery should be of any concern. As long as the normal rules of the roads are followed, and proper safety gear is worn, there is no reason these skateboards should be banned from our college campus.
