Eskom has embarked on an unfair practice known as so-called "load reduction". The reasons cited for this are:

1. Theft of electricity

2. Protecting the electrical infrastructure

3. Non-payment of electricity bills

We have a constitutional right to have access to electricity, for which we pay. It is Eskom's and the government's responsibility to deal with illegal connections and non-payment of electric bills. The paying customer should not have to suffer the consequences of the action of a few individuals.

This practice also has an adverse negative effect not only on electrical appliances, but also on businesses in the affected areas. The time has come for us to stand up and say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
