Bring Urban Suburban Program to HF-L

The HFLCSD Board of Education is currently considering bringing the Urban Suburban Program to our district. We are one of the only districts in Monroe Co. that does not participate in the program and we currently have the least amount of diversity in all of Monroe County. Participating in the Urban Suburban Program will result in an enriched educational experience for current HF-L students by increasing exposure to a diverse student body, decreasing feelings of isolation for minority students already in the district in addition to providing an opportunity for a high level education to students from RCSD that would not otherwise have the opportunity. The program results in a net financial gain for the district as state aid is provided for each student participating in the program. More information regarding the program can be found here: http://www.hflcsd.org
Please join me in using your voice to let the board of education know that the majority of residents approve of moving forward with participation in the Urban Suburban Program. We are blessed to be a part of a wonderful school district and we have the opportunity to help children rise above poverty through education with this program. Let your voices be louder than those who are speaking out against participation because of irrational fears and racism. Increasing diversity will give our children the chance to grow into more compassionate adults who have learned how to accept others who are different and work together to make our world a better place for all.
