Chloe Portbury started this petition to Hervey Bay Mayor and 10 Councillors

I fell in love with the ocean at a very young age. My dad’s side of the family was very involved in sailing, although that was never my favourite thing to do, I took any chance to get out on the water. It broke my heart and absolutely shuttered me when I was faced with the horrifying and devastating reality... our ocean - my home - is dying, and it’s all because of us.

One person can say “its only one can”... but what if 100 people start saying that? What if thousands or millions of people start saying that? That might be 14,000 kilograms of rubbish per week. And that would be 14,000 kilograms too many. The upsetting fact is that this usually results is hundreds, thousands, even millions (and probably more) of precious, innocent sea creatures dying or becoming seriously ill/injured.

This is not okay. And it needs to stop. Even if it’s something as small as signing my petition, you are making change. We can Save the Seas.
