The coercive control law doesn't cover ex partners/husbands/wives. This is a massive failing in law. Abuse doesn't end just because the relationship/marriage has ended. Once leaving the relationship protection is still needed. Why should a law only cover you while in a relationship with an abuser? Leaving a relationship/marriage is one of the most dangerous times for a survivor. Why should they still continue to be abused due to the fact their is a failing in the law. Breaching family court orders is only seen as a civil matter when the fact is it's a controlling matter. Not making payments that are through child maintenance or court ordered again is control. There needs to be a law to protect survivors of abuse. An ex partner and their abuse and control is considered a domestic. However it will always be a non crime domestic due to the fact there is no crime an ex is committing. However if you were in a relationship it would be a crime. There needs to be a crime these abusers commit. Why should survivors continue to be abused due to the law failing them? Survivors are advised to log all the abuse. However this is only used for once it's too late as evidence these women weren't protected. There is a lot for people to understand about abusers and how they work. Slowly times are catching up with how they work however it's not good enough. This law is needed now!
