Brighter and improved street lights for the local streets and roads.

I am creating this petition; for public safety. Not only for myself but for all residents, especially those who live in and around the Westmill Estate of Hitchin.

This is for the much needed improvements to the poor, dim and limited street lighting in all our streets.

The safety of us - pedestrians and even motorists should be first thought of Hertfordshire County Council not their 'purse pinching'.

On the evening of Sunday 28th March 2021 I was walking down Milestone Road; close to my home when I fell hitting my face hard into the concrete. I suffered severe bruising and cuts to the left side of my face where I had to attend A&E for treatment of my injuries. I am lucky I didn't suffer a more serious injury. My fall was only the result of the very poor and dim street lighting that needs to be sorted.

Following my Facebook post seeking the opinions of others about the street lighting issue I was so shocked to hear that I am not alone and to learn that other people have also suffered injuries due to the poor street lighting.

I have already had great response and verbal support from so many people.

This is a major issue which needs to be actively looked into and rapid action taken by HCC.

Please sign my petition and support me, so we together can get the safety we rightly deserve.
