As you know this year’s moving up ceremony will not take place at the Tilles Center as it has in the past. The original reason that Tilles wasn’t booked is because at the time that they had to book the date, Tilles was requiring proof of vaccination or negative covid test to enter the building. The district felt that was too much of a hassle. However, that protocol is no longer in place. Many people are upset about the 4 split ceremonies. The kids would like to be able to be all together for one ceremony. They have lost out on so much in middle school. This grade is arguably the worst hit by covid. They missed the Philadelphia trip, the 8th grade boat trip and now moving up. Furthermore, the dance that the kids typically have to celebrate moving up at the VFW hall has been changed to a bbq at school. There is no opportunity for the kids to have a special night where they dress up and take pictures with their friends. Especially given that they can’t all be together for moving up. Administration was approached about moving up and refused to consider having the ceremony at Tilles. The following petition is to ask the Herricks Board of Education to get involved and request them as well as administration to have the moving up ceremony at Tilles.
