This is a petition in support of building an Off-Leash Dog Run at a nearby location in Hermosa Beach, California. It is the belief of those in support of this petition will greatly benefit the surrounding community.

The South Bay community loves their dogs! 

El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, and Torrance all have designated dog parks or dog runs. Unfortunately, Hermosa Beach is the outlier.

There is no dedicated, open space for our dogs to freely run, socialize, or get the exercise they need. The beach also prohibits dogs, both On-Leash and Off-Leash, and most recently, the Hermosa Beach City Council voted to set the fine for violations of dogs Off-Leash at $250 per offense. These rules and ordinances limit dog-owners and their dogs immensely. 

Since the pandemic, Valley Park has been a positive space to help bring members of the community together. 

Now more than ever, as we emerge from quarantine lock-downs, we are in need of safe, outdoor spaces to gather. This petition was started by a group of Hermosa Beach residents that all met while walking our dogs during quarantine. Creating a dog run, either within Valley Park or nearby, will act as a much needed space that can help to safely unify our community.
