Increase South Carolina Teacher Salaries
0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!
South Carolina has a major teacher shortage. Many skilled teachers are leaving the profession altogether. South Carolina is one of the lowest ranked in the country in education. Teachers in South Carolina are some of the lowest paid in the country. Teachers must go to school for 4 years to earn a bachelors degree, some come out of college with tens of thousands of dollars in student loans to be paid a minimum of a $30,000 starting salary, and are faced with a tremendous stress with cost of living burdens. South Carolina needs to get on par with neighboring states and begin paying their teachers a livable wage that will help improve their lives and the lives of the children they nurture and develop year after year. By increasing teacher's salaries South Carolina will be able to retain their good teachers. It will benefit our communities, and the future of our children by keeping skilled, passionate teachers with experience in the profession.
