As everyone that travels Highway 138 between the hours of 7:00 am and 8:00 am knows, it is very busy. Anyone who has a child in the Woodland School District knows it is out right dangerous. A Henry County Police Officer is supposed to be out there directing traffic but unfortunately one is not always present at 7:15 when we are allowed to start dropping our children off at their schools. Often there is not one present even at 7:30 am as has been the case the past three days and school has just started. Too many accidents happen at this intersection with people trying to make a left hand turn onto Highway 138. It is on top of a slope and people are constantly making left hand turns onto North Moseley Road to take their children to school. I feel a traffic light to operate at least during school hours would take the burden off of the police department and also make this intersection safer and easier for parents and everyone that travels these roads daily. I understand the Police Officers sometimes have more important matters to attend, however the safety of the public is also very important and if the county cannot guarantee a police officer to assist and direct traffic I feel it is their responsibility and their duty to take the necessary measures to make this intersection as safe as possible. I feel this would truly cut down on accidents and make this intersection much safer.
**We should also think: we have HIGH SCHOOLERS trying to navigate in and out of this intersection. They are not the most experienced drivers.**
