On Nov 6, HCPS introduced High School Option A and Option B redistricting proposals, both of which re-zone our subdivisions out of Godwin and into Freeman. Sign this petition to oppose both of these options to keep us in the Godwin zone. Please also take a moment to fill out the HCPS survey with your comments and concerns here. 

• Community: We have raised our children together with the families in neighboring communities including Whitaker Woods, Raintree, and Crown Grant. We want our kids to continue to be a part of the Godwin community.
• Distance: For many of us, Godwin is a little over 1 mile from home and our kids can bike to school, or we can drive them easily. Redistricting to Freeman doubles the distance from home and the transportation time and effort. Our kids could spend up to an hour on the bus to and from school!
• Safety: With the extra distance and time of the commute to school, the chances of our kids getting into an accident increase whether they're driving themselves or on the bus.
• Environmental Impact: Longer commutes lead to more carbon emissions and more crowded roads! With our positioning at the western-most edge of the potential Freeman zone, and many of us now needing to drive our kids to school, the environmental cost of this proposal is high (not to mention the headache of all that additional driving).
