Dear Community Member, Resident, Stakeholder, Student, Parent and Athletes

The Western Adelaide Sporting Facility Demand & Supply Study found that the shortage of indoor sporting facilities across Western Adelaide which is predicted to be a shortfall of 21 courts by 2026. Henley High School needs your support to build a much needed new indoor sports centre for the community and the schools growing population.

Henley High School has been working closely with Office of Recreation and Sport and the Department for Education to develop a ‘Business Case’ for a new 4 court Indoor Sports Centre constructed on the Cudmore Terrace site adjacent to the school. In addition, relevant Local, State and Federal Government Policy and Planning was examined to ensure that the proposed facility would be strategically aligned with government objectives.

This facility will benefit the community by creating a social capital, increase participation in sport and recreation, improve regional identity, pride and recognition, reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, and provide a meeting place for sporting and non-sporting community groups.

Henley High school’s Master Plan has identified the need for an Indoor Sports Centre to serve the existing school population, the Specialist Sport Program, anticipated growth and also to address a broader need for indoor sports facilities across the Henley Community and Western Adelaide region. This objective is now significantly compounded with particular context to the State Government’s plan to transition Year 7 Public School students into high school by 2022.

KPMG has been employed to assist with the ‘Business Case’ and has looked at the Financial, Social, Economic and Environmental evaluation of this project. The KPMG Business Case, shows that, with a capital investment of $11.5M a four court indoor sports centre is projected to generate the highest level of benefit proportionate to the cost. The Business Case and Feasibility study calculated the Community benefit at $16.5M.

This is a once in a generation opportunity, we need your support to make this happen.

Many Thanks

Henley High School
