Kaylee Resnikoff started this petition to Hendry County School Board

Principal Melissa Carter hit a 6 year old child 3 times with a solid wooden paddle, swung from above the shoulder, for doing $50 in damage to a computer, while the student was held up by School Clerk Cecilia Self. The students mother was present but due to a language barrier and lack of interpretation she was unaware of what was going to happen to her child when she agreed, once she realized what was happening she took our her phone out and started to record the incident of physical abuse. The mother of the little girl was afraid she would be in trouble for the damages to the computer if she did or did anything. Please keep in mind, this district does NOT have corporal punishment as a form of discipline. This is pure Aggravated Battery on a minor. Please sign below to have both the principal and the clerk removed from their positions and be bared from ever working with children again.  The district has opened an investigation and the county district attorney is trying to decide if they should file charges. These are not questions, they are simple answers for simple questions, did the principal hit a child, yes. Did the clerk hold the child in place for the principal to hit her, yes. Did the schools staff provide proper interpretation to the mother, no. Could the mother give consent for her child to be battered without interpretation, no. These people need their credentials pulled and they need to face jail time. There was also a sheriff's deputy present, he needs to face reprimand as well. He sat by and allowed a LARGE grown woman to batter a child, even though it was against the districts current policy.
