Te Atatu Peninsula is an area full of young families who love utilising the parks and outdoor spaces we have. We have six early childhood centres, two kindergartens, three primary schools, an intermediate and a college. We don't have a public swimming pool on the Peninsula. The shoreline is not always safe for swimming. A splashpad like the one at Potters Park (Balmoral) would be used by young and old, every single day of the summer.
If installed in the park beside the new library and community centre, it would be easy for local kids to access by bike and on foot (no traffic issues).
There is huge local support for this and also plenty of locals willing to lend a hand to get it happening.
