Southeast Asphalt has proposed to building an asphalt plant in Henderson County off of Spartanburg Highway. The potential construction of this facility could have many negative impacts on the residents of this area. There are many negative health impacts that could result from this such as cancer, liver and central nervous system issues and many others as discussed in the Asphalt Plant Pollution article by the Center of Health, Environment and Justice. This could also decrease the value of properties in close proximity by up to 56%, creating a financial burden concerning real estate. Henderson County also houses two of the largest asphalt companies in the United States: Rogers Group and Apac. A virtual meeting to discuss this issue will be held on June 8, 2020 at 1:00 PM. Concerned neighboring residents in the area would like to prevent this and ask for your help in getting voices heard. Please help to protect our residents and our homes.
