Help Us Save Bainbridge Liquor Store from Closing

Bainbridge Liquor Store has been part of the Bainbridge community in Burnaby, British Columbia for many years. The block on which the store is located on is scheduled for demolition and to be sold for redevelopment.
The process of moving a liquor store is hard and can take up to a year so we have been working for months to find a solution. There are many restrictions where someone can open or move a private retail liquor store in Burnaby. We have spoken to the City of Burnaby about moving to 6 eligible locations across the city, all of which were declined.
We have now leased a retail space across the street from our current location but City Council has still declined our application to move sighting concerns about parking and truck deliveries. There are more parking spaces than are required by the City in that development and businesses in that development already receive truck deliveries. The current property owner on which our store currently resides on has even offered to gift some land to the City to extend a bike lane if we are able to move the store.
It is also important to note that The City of Burnaby has policies that favour BC Liquor Stores by allowing them into certain areas where private retailers are not, creating unequal opportunity for smaller businesses like ours. We have exhausted all possible options and are worried we will have to close the store for good. We are asking for help from our fellow neighbours and community to have our voice and story be heard.
