As of March 2022, vehicle thefts are are up 107%, shootings have increased by 69%, assault was up by 22.5% and robberies were up quickly by 37%. We need to provide a safer environment so that our people can feel secure. Being born and raised in NYC, Queens, we were never really afraid of what was going on around us at a young age. However, recently, the average rate of crime in these areas have increased greatly. Due to this significant change, it has made our community unsafe and has made the people around us feel vulnerable. As time goes by in Queens, there is a major issue with the increase of violence on our streets. This causes people to be more fearful of their surroundings. Our inability to recognize this problem and help prevent it from happening has allowed the rate of crime to increase in our community. We can help prevent this by locating our crime hotspots and have more police patrol that area. We can also have firm policies about violence.
