Winter Sweeney started this petition to Representative Matt Gaetz and

We the students, believe that we should be partaking in classes that will help us outside of graduation. We understand the importance and need for education. Unfortunately, the classes we are learning today aren't teaching us necessary skills for adulthood. For example, in the late 1900s, kids were taught how to use a check book, balance a check book, invest in stocks and were taught about taxes. They were also taught numerous things that prepped them for a life outside of high school. Nowadays, we the students, feel we are walking into the adult world blind and trying to figure out multiple life skills on our own. It feels like we are getting set up for failure.

If our schools taught the younger generation life skills that are essential for after graduation, there would be a lot less confusion on how to prep and handle certain life scenarios. For instance, most of "gen z " doesn't know how to use basic tools. Let's implement classes in school that deal with wood work, mechanics, or construction, the level of understanding will go up and create more experienced workers in highly needed trade jobs. These learning based skills will allow students to start out with an experienced trade as they adventure out on their own. Most of these trades will also lead to a deeper understanding of core classes as construction utilities a large amount of math to complete a job. The level of understanding causes success to automatically increas. If we are taught the essentials to succeed we will be less likely to fail. With your help we can start fixing the school system one signature at a time.
