Make Medical Cannabis/Recreational Cannabis Accessible

Why this petition?

Being a Military Vet, Medical Cannabis user and a retail owner, I see what is occurring in the Cannabis industry. I see the Federal Government slowly making profit over patient care. Let's make patient care a service the priority.

Getting your medication, the same day is the goal. Medical Legal Producers are the same producers that grown the recreational cannabis now in all Recreational Cannabis Stores across Canadian. It is time for the Provincial Government and Federal to allow all retails who can store and properly track all transaction and report all transactions these sales accurately.

Currently medical cannabis can ONLY be purchased through the Medical Legal Producers web site. The reason they do this is because we at the retail level have no medical cannabis training background and are not able to give medical advice about cannabis.

Retailers should never be giving out medical advice, but we are able to tell you the evidence and ways cannabis could help you. What most do not know medical practitioner will say the same thing we do right now. The medical practitioners right now will tell you the exact same advice, find what works for you. After the consult, the patient is given access to their full line of Cannabis products and accessories.

Medical and Recreational Cannabis- Make it readily accessible

In Canada, medical cannabis was legalized in 2001. Since then, the country has seen a dramatic increase in the number of people using medical cannabis. In fact, a recent study found that the number of medical cannabis patients in Canada has quadrupled since 2013.

However, access to medical cannabis remains a major problem in Canada. A report from the Canadian Medical Association found that only 38% of medical cannabis patients were able to obtain their medicine from a licensed producer because of wait time or they are required to wait and then pick it up at Shoppers when it arrives.

The good news is that recreational cannabis became legal in Canada on October 17, 2018. This will make it much easier for people to access cannabis products but not covered medical cannabis.

Medical cannabis patients will still need a medical prescription to purchase their medicine. However, a new law will make it easier for people to access medical cannabis by eliminating the need to go purchase directly through a licensed producer.

The bottom line is that medical and recreational cannabis are not two different things. Medical cannabis is used to treat specific medical conditions, while recreational cannabis is used for enjoyment purposes. Both are the same except for the fact the Federal Government and big Pharma want to make it seem they are different compounds.

Allowing people to order their medicine online and get it shipped in the mail is not only not impractical, but it is a slow process. Patients that must wait over two weeks to receive their medicine, then have run out and paying out of pocked at a dispensary is not medical care and seems more about the sale then the patient. This can all be prevented if we had more access in dispensaries.

We have one customer who has seizures and requires their cannabis when it get bad, at the retail level we filled his order and delivered within the hour. This is what we want for all medical patients now.

Let us make Medical Cannabis for patients more accessible while supporting our retail sector.

Find the information to health practitioners learn and tell patients verbatim and what we currently do as education in the retail space.
