Over the past year, I have studied and researched the connection between plea deals and prosecutorial bias to mass incarceration of African-Americans. Misinformation and not even knowing your rights is a high contributor to why many people accept plea deals. By implementing resources such as brochures and handouts with information regarding constitutional rights, and listing organizations and nonprofits willing to represent people probono people who get arrested and who are incarcerated may feel a better sense of trust regarding accepting a plea deal or even going to trial.
