To Governor Gavin Newsom: your intervention is requested in order to correct a deficiency in consumer protection affecting pet owners and owners’ agents in California. The veterinary drug Convenia is injected into pets without first warning pet owners or their agents about the unusual and unconventional duration of its effects. It persists in the pet’s body for 65 days. Once injected it can cause adverse effects for more than 2 months, including the death of the animal patient. The pet owner or the owner’s agent can be unknowingly and torturously trapped in a powerless situation due to the long-acting nature of this antibiotic. In addition to this unfair practice no warning is provided to pet owners or their agents that this drug must be used with caution in cases of severe renal dysfunction. Complete information should be made transparent to the public.

Why are pet owners and owners’ agents being left in the dark?

Why this important information is not disclosed to pet owners and their agents?

Please help pet owners and their agents by requiring that complete pharmaceutical information be made transparent before pets are injected with dangerous drugs such as Convenia in non-emergency situations.
