Please help us in supporting the following Bills (Senate 4891 / Assembly 5938) which will further restrict Level 3 Sex Offenders from Knowingly being within 1000 feet of a child care provider, a preschool or any place where pre-kindergarten or kindergarten instruction is provided.

This Bill was introduced and passed at the Senate level in 2018 and has now been tabled at the Assembly level. The Bill will be up for vote again when the Assembly resumes in January 2022.

We as parents and citizens of our communities have an obligation to protect the innocence of our children and provide the highest level of safety known to man. We hereby support the efforts of our government to further secure the safety of our children. We must be diligent in our efforts as it will be beneficial towards the prevention of these heinous acts and rehabilitation for those who have been convicted.

TITLE OF BILL:

An act to amend the executive law and the penal law, in relation to
prohibiting certain convicted sex offenders from knowingly being within
1,000 feet of a child care provider, a preschool or any place where
pre-kindergarten or kindergarten instruction is provided

 
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:

This bill will prohibit convicted level 3 sex offenders and those classified as a level 2 offender whose victim was under eighteen, from knowingly be within 1,000 feet of places where young children congregate,
specifically child daycares, preschools, and kindergartens

 
SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS:

Section one: amends subdivision 14 of section 259-c of the executive law
to prohibit level 3 sex offenders and certain level 2 second offenders
from knowingly entering or being within 1,000 feet of a child care
provider, preschool, or any facility or institution where pre-kindergarten or kindergarten instruction is provided.
