Here at Longfellow Middle School, we have a courtyard in the center of our school. Its purpose? It is to preserve nature in our area and serve as a natural teaching area. However, recently, a group of my friends and I have noticed things. There are too many dead leaves, and the pond in our courtyard, which is home to a family of ducks, is too shallow and filled nearly to the brim with leaves. Due to this, the ducklings of our local ducks can barely survive. We notice them slowly disappear, and we never know if they die or miraculously make it out. And that is not to mention the litter and lack of trash bins. We need to refresh and help our small local ecosystem survive! Sign this petition to help us!
