We want to make it very clear that this petition only seeks to guide, advance, facilitate and agitate for the interest of Kenya Tea farmers and Precisely, Michimikuru Tea farmers and general public.

Maurice Kobia was by a large majority amongst others, elected as board director of Michimikuru Tea Factory on April 21st 2021. To surprise of many farmers, some known individual in the interim election committee with know interest rigged in and announced another candidate who was a distance third as the winner at midnight in a hotel and Maurice denied is victory. The county tea board election tribunal overturned the decision of interim election committee and Maurice was given back his victory.

Farmers are again surprised that the cartels regrouped and through connections they have again snatched Maurice's victory. We are aware of well organized plan by the county and ward leadership in Thangatha ward through some connected leader bluntly known as "tea cartels" who lack transparency and accountability trying to scoop back Michimikuru Tea Factory to cartels.

Maurice who was among the youthful leadership has the energy, creativity and idealism to challenge entrenched patterns of exclusion and injustice and has been at the forefront of tea reforms and innovation of Michimikuru Tea Factory. Maurice was uniquely placed to bring positive change in tea sector. We can't afford to allow back the capture by cartels of Michimikuru Tea Factory.

It’s for this reason that we have decided to petition the Ministry of Agriculture, Office of the president and the Kenya Tea Development Agency to look into this issues and have them addressed. We are humbly calling on the CS agriculture and KTDA to promote, facilitate and prioritize fairness and ensure MAURICE KOBIA who was the fairly elected Director is re-instated and also investigate and probe gross misconduct and impunity by some leaders targeting to destabilize Michimikuru Tea Factory board. We also call upon the county government of Meru to stop interfering with affairs of Michimikuru Tea Factory.

Kindly join us in fighting up Tea cartels. You have the power to influence leaders every time you take an action to support a petition. That’s what people-power is all about. Thank you and I trust that you will provide the necessary attention to this matter.
