Let APEX Have Access to Creative and Art Subjects

The APEX students of Calamvale Community College have recently been given a choice of subjects for year 9 in 2018. However, it seems that because we are in a program for higher achieving students we have been forced unlike the other grade 9 students to do Chinese (which is usually a non-compulsory subject in grade 9). This usually would not be an issue, however it seems that because of this we don't have access to doing the creative and art subjects and only have a choice of purely more academic-based classes. This is a problem because we have many students in the class who value art, theater and creative outlets. APEX should be treated like the rest of the grade 9 students. Everyone should have an equal opportunity to achieve their best in classes they like and are interested in. Most agree that Chinese should not need to be a compulsory subject in grade 9. If grade 9 students would like to do Chinese they should still have the option to select Chinese as a subject. Our class is home to many digital artists, traditional artists, actors, photographers and artists alike. So please, sign the petition to help the grade 9 APEX students fight for the right to learn and have equal opportunities.
