In his Budget announcement yesterday, the Chancellor of the Exchequer Philip Hammond announced that the government will be making a charitable donation equal to the VAT they receive from sales of commemorative items!
This is fantastic news! Our small team has been working incredibly hard throughout this year to raise as much money as possible, so to receive confirmation from the government of such a sizeable donation, which we will be able to pass on to our benefitting charities, really made our Monday.
The support we have had for this campaign has been incredible – thank you for signing and sharing the petition and for writing to your MPs to support the Early Day Motion. I have no doubt that the good news in yesterday’s Budget is due in no small part to the support you showed.
There has never been a better time to purchase your own 10” Tommy, as every purchase is even more valuable to our benefitting charities thanks to the generosity of the Chancellor.
Please do buy a Tommy if you can and encourage your friends and family to purchase one as well, you can also now purchase them in your local WH Smith high street store. Our beneficiary charities do amazing work on a daily basis and it’s so important they are able to continue to do so – your contribution will make a difference.
Once again, thank you so much for your support. It has been truly invaluable.
