In the best interest of the community on the Northeast side of San Antonio, (District 2), we hereby protest the Property Amendment #PA-2019-11600055 and the subsequent zoning change; Zoning Case Z-2019-10700192.  If the proposed zoning change of the area generally located west of Walzem Road and Dial Ike Drive is approved, more multi-family housing will be built which is detrimental to our community and not in agreement with the Walzem Road Area Business District Strategic Revitalization Plan, (even though this area is not included in WRAR, the goals of our Camelot 1 Neighborhood Plan state:  "Partner with the City of Windcrest (CoW) to encourage transparency, open dialogue, and a working and cordial relationship regarding development near the Camelot 1 planning area".  See Camelot 1 Neighborhood Plan, page 4; Objective 2, Action Step 2.2)  and our Camelot 1 Neighborhood Plan.

As such, it is not in the best interest of the community to add more multi-family housing to an area that already has a disproportionate amount by rezoning Lots 2, 3, 5, 6, and 7, Block 2, NCB 16927 and Lots 2, 3, 4, and 5, Block 3, NCB 16927 from commercial (C3) to multi-family (MF-18).  To quote the Camelot 1 Neighborhood Plan, "Due to the number of declining businesses, vacant lots, and a substantial amount of multifamily housing, the community wishes to focus on more diverse development to balance the uses in the area.".  To quote the Walzem Road Area Business District Strategic Revitalization Plan's vision for the Walzem Area, "A safe, family-oriented and military friendly destination with a distinctive sense of place. A trendy, prosperous and vibrant "Tech Town" with a mix of uses, strong neighborhoods and businesses, and active areas for biking and pedestrians."  Let's stand together in support of economic growth and upward mobility for our communities while keeping crime rates down.  For a better idea as to what could be done with this area, read this letter written by Bexar County Commissioner Tommy Calvert:  https://sanantoniotx.s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/Development/Herman+and+Kittle+follow+up+letter%2C+10.7.2019.pdf

There is a hearing scheduled 9:00 AM, Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Municipal Plaza, 114 W. Commerce Street, San Antonio, TX 78205.

Please share this information with your neighbors and plan to attend. If you wish to speak, please arrive well before 9:00 AM in order to sign in.  Thank-you!
