Across the nation, many students are experiencing hardships in their educational lives. Why? We spend 35+ hours a week in the classroom, travel 10+ miles to our placement sites and have to spend more than $200 a month in order to complete our internships for graduation.

In Maryland, we as student interns do the equivalent of some teachers, and do not get paid or accommodated. What happens if we do not have a car or a job? Most student cannot even hold employment due to the strict schedule of their internships. Some of us are living on our own paying bills or have kids we need to take care of. We understand this internship is to help us graduate and become educators, but we are still students. Students with financial aid, substantial debt, and personal lives. In signing this petition, you will be helping not only us educators, but our students of the future. Help student interns get paid and receive accommodations!
